David Swafford began his career in 1980 working for a small oil and gas lease broker in Oklahoma City. Six months later, he took a position as a landman with Texas Oil & Gas Corp. (TXO), also in Oklahoma City. He worked in all phases of land work: contracts, JOAs, Farmin and Farmout Agreements, Unitizations, Exploration Agreements, and all phases of the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, preparing wells to be drilled. During a period in 1985 and 1986, David moved over to the TXO subsidiary (Delhi Gas Pipeline) that was a gatherer and transporter of natural gas. David moved back to TXO in 1987 where he was promoted to various supervisory positions in the Land Department during his tenure there, eventually being named District Land Manager. In addition to the day-to-day activities of a large exploration and production company, David was responsible for all land personnel, land budgeting, reporting and quarterly and annual management reviews.

In 1991, David left TXO to create Blue Star Gas Corp., a small gas gathering company that also provided land services and gas contract consulting to clients. The firm grew and eventually focused on providing land services to exploration and production companies. Blue Star Land Services, LLC was created in 2008 to more adequately describe and fulfill the company’s function. Today, Blue Star Land Services has grown to become a full-service land services company, providing ownership reports, leasing, title curative and due diligence, focusing on a specialty of Oklahoma Corporation Commission testimony. David’s areas of expertise are: Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Colorado, and Wyoming.
