David Swafford began his career in 1980 working for a small oil and gas lease broker in Oklahoma City. Within six months, he took a position as a landman with Texas Oil & Gas Corp. (TXO), also in Oklahoma City. He worked in all phases of land work: contracts, JOAs, Farmin and Farmout Agreements, Unitizations, Exploration Agreements, and all phases of the Oklahoma Corporation Commission. During a period in 1985 and 1986, David worked for the TXO subsidiary (Delhi Gas Pipeline) that was a gatherer and transporter of natural gas. David moved back to TXO where he was promoted to various supervisory positions in the Land Department during his tenure there, eventually being named District Land Manager. In addition to the day-to-day activities of a large exploration and production company, David was responsible for all land personnel, land budgeting, reporting and quarterly and annual management reviews.
In 1991, David left TXO to create Blue Star Gas Corp., a small gas gathering company that also provided land services and gas contract consulting to clients. The firm grew and eventually focused on providing land services to exploration and production companies. Blue Star Land Services, LLC was created in 2008 to more adequately describe the company’s function.
